According to Matthew Tynan of Locked On Sports, Spurs legend Gregg Popovich joined the team’s video analysis session on Tuesday after a low-intensity practice. Popovich assisted the coaching staff and players in reviewing key moments from the game as the team prepared adjustments for the next matchup.
Popovich’s Legendary Career and Health Challenges
Gregg Popovich became the Spurs’ head coach in 1996 and spent 29 years leading the franchise, winning five NBA championships and earning three NBA Coach of the Year awards. He is one of the rare coaches inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame during his coaching career, with his induction scheduled for 2023. Popovich compiled an impressive record of 1,390 regular-season wins and 170 playoff victories before health concerns forced him to step away. Originally planning for the 2024 season to be his final year, he resigned after only five games due to declining health. On November 2, 2024, Popovich suffered a stroke and announced an indefinite leave of absence two days later.
